Texas Hold’em with record-breaking stakes was played in Fennia Salonki, November 2 and 3.
Grand Casino Helsinki hosted the first Fennia Grand Slam tournament. What made the event special was the all-time high buy-in in Finland: 7,300 €.
The two-day tournament was taken down by the accomplished poker player Seppo Parkkinen with an unruffled and steady game. Known for his trademark cap, the gentleman player took home more than 80,000 € in prize money.
The second place was snatched by Jari Kylmälä, 47,250 €. Juha Helppi, who has recently reaped fame on international poker fields as well as home, came in third, winning 28,350 €.
Cash prizes were handed out to the top 5, hence Jani Sointula and Ilari Sahamies were also among the awarded. Sahamies received 13,230 € for his fifth place and Sointula came in fourth, claiming 18,900 €.
Grand Casino Helsinki’s next major international poker tournament, Helsinki Freezeout, is battled out in January 2009. The event begins on the 10th of January at 5pm with a game of Texas No Limit 200 + 20 €. Besides Texas, the event also features tournaments of Omaha, Sökö (Scandinavian stud) and 7 Card Stud Limit. Tournament ticket prices start at 220 €. Tickets to the main event cost 3,000 €.
