Free Bet Blackjack

Free Bet Blackjack is a card game in which the player tries to beat the dealer. The special feature of Free Bet Blackjack is that the player can split and double down certain hands without having to place an additional bet.

CARDS AND POSITIONS

An ace can be counted as either 1 or 11, while face cards count for 10 and other cards count as their natural value. The game is played with six 52 card decks without jokers. A player may play several hands at the same time but, if necessary, the casino may limit the number of hands a player can play simultaneously and the number of background players.

THE COURSE OF THE GAME

Players are initially dealt two cards each, and the dealer is dealt one card.

Players may draw additional cards until they feel the value of their hand is close enough to 21. When all of the players have been dealt their desired number of cards, the dealer deals himself additional cards until the value of his hand is 17 or higher. The dealer must draw an additional card if his hand is a soft 17, meaning that it includes an ace and has two values (such as A+6 or 2+4+A).

The player may not draw additional cards if the value of his hand is 21, unless the hand includes an ace and has two values (such as A+4+6).

PAYOUTS

The player wins at a payout rate of 1:1 if the value of his hand is closer to 21 than the dealer’s, or if the dealer’s score is 23 or higher. In case of a tied score, the hand is a push. If the dealer’s score is closer to 21, the player loses his bet.

The player always loses if his score exceeds 21.

THE DEALER’S 22
If the dealer’s score is 22 points, the game is tied and the bet stays with the player. The exception to this rule is the player’s Blackjack, which pays off at the normal rate. If the dealer’s score is 22 points, the bets for the player’s hands that have already lost are not returned.

BLACKJACK

A player who scores 21 with the first two cards of a hand hits Blackjack, which pays at 3:2, except when the dealer also hits Blackjack. If the dealer also hits Blackjack, the hand is a push.

DOUBLING DOWN

The player may double down all hands of two cards, but he will then only be dealt one additional card. To double down, the player places an equal bet next to the original one. When doubling down soft hands (such as A+4 = 5 or 15), the score is always counted in the player’s favor.

If the score of the player’s first two cards is 9, 10 or 11 with no aces, the player may double down without placing an additional bet. The doubling down is then indicated by special free bet chips. Hands that are doubled down without an additional bet pay out at a ratio of 2:1 on the original bet.

SPLITTING

If the player’s first two cards are equal in value, they can be split into two separate hands. In Free Bet Blackjack, the player can split, without placing an additional bet, all hands of two equal cards except those in which the value of each card is 10. If the player wishes to split a hand consisting of two cards with a value of 10 each, the player must place an additional bet as in normal Blackjack. A hand that has been split without placing an additional bet can also be split again without an additional bet. A maximum of four hands can be formed per position by splitting.

Aces can also be split without placing an additional bet. If the player splits two aces, he will only receive one additional card for each hand. If the player’s additional card drawn for either of the split hands is another ace, that hand can then be split without placing an additional bet. A maximum of four hands can be formed per position by splitting aces.

In a split hand, an ace and a face card or 10 does not count as Blackjack and only pays out at a ratio of 1:1. A score of 21 achieved by splitting always loses to the dealer’s Blackjack.

Splits made without placing an additional bet are indicated by special free bet chips. In a split hand, the original bet applies to the hand for which additional cards are dealt first. A split hand can be doubled down as described above.

INSURANCE

If the dealer’s first card is an ace, the player may insure himself against the dealer’s Blackjack by placing an additional bet on the insurance line. The maximum value of the insurance bet is half of the original bet. Players must decide on insurance before any additional cards are dealt. If the dealer hits Blackjack, insurance bets pay out at 2:1. If the dealer doesn’t hit Blackjack, the insurance bets are lost and the game goes on as usual.

EVEN MONEY

If the dealer’s first card is an ace, Blackjack pays out at of 1:1 (even money) if the player so chooses. If the player does not want even money, Blackjack pays out at 3:2 unless the dealer also hits Blackjack. If the dealer also hits Blackjack, this results in a stand off, in which case the bet neither wins nor loses.

SURRENDER

The player can’t surrender in Free Bet Blackjack.

TRIPLE SEVEN JACKPOT

If the player is dealt a triple seven on the first three (3) cards of a hand, he immediately receives a payout of 3:1. If the player doubles down on a double seven and is dealt another seven as the additional card, both the original bet and the additional bet receive a payout of 3:1. Note: If the player splits a pair of sevens, he can’t receive a payout of 3:1 and the hand is played normally.
